Michigan Works!

Where: Bedford Branch Library at Display Case Room

The Monroe County Library System is partnering with Michigan Works to bring jobs to you! Michigan Works will now have a presence, in South County Monroe, to better serve the community. They will be at the Bedford library the 2nd and 4th Thursday to provide you with information to get the job you desperately need. Currently there is no need for registration. Just walk in during the times specified.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Basics Bedford (wk 3 of 4)

This is a four week series that will cover the fundamentals of PowerPoint; creating new slides, editing and formatting a presentation, inserting clip art and video, inserting transitions and animations, setting up timing, delivering presentation.

Computer Basics Level 3 Bedford (wk 6 of 6)

This course will include a variety of topics for home computer users to develop their skills. Topics are: More on Email, Computer Security, Computer Maintenance, Photo Editing, MCLS Catalog and Downloading books, and Facebook. Prerequisite for this course is at least a Level 1 Computer Basics or Senior Moments. For the email class you will need to have an active email account before the class. Registration is required.

Computer Basics Level 2 Bedford (wk 6 of 6)

Six Weeks - Beginner: Some Mouse and Typing skills helpful
This class builds on Computer Basics 1/Senior Moments 1 course. Participants will learn basic skills such as: how to use a mouse, build typing skills, computer vocabulary, turning the computer on and off, making personal adjustments, using the software program Paint, work with files, folders and shortcuts, Word Pad project, save to a CD, Intro to Internet, and getting maps and directions from Internet. There are hands-on exercises to reinforce skills from our Moodle learning site.

LOOK UP INTO THE STARS- SUMMERFIELD-PETERSBURG

After spending the day with Summerfield Elementary School students, astrophysicist and former NASA consultant, Kevin Manning, will be bringing Star Tours 2013 to the Summerfield-Petersburg Library. He will share his expertise throughout "Astronomy for Everyone: Size and Scale of the Universe," a dynamic family program for all ages.

Following his presentation, weather permitting, Manning will treat attendees to a night sky viewing of celestial objects such as the ring of Saturn and craters on the moon through a powerful handcrafted telescope.

This is an unforgettable experience that you won't want to miss.

Guided Imagery for cancer patients

Partner massage for cancer patients

This will be a demonstration class. Very often a partner or caregiver is fearful of providing any touch to a person with cancer, worrying about causing more pain. This class is designed to teach survivors and a partner basic massage strokes in a fun, relaxed atmosphere, while promoting relaxation, nurturing, connection and communication.
